This can allow police officers to focus on their work and not worry about the technical aspects of installing and running software.
2. Data Backed Up in the Cloud Cannot Be Lost
Another reason why police precincts should invest in cloud storage is to protect their data. Perhaps more than in almost any other industry, data is integral to the success of police work. Without the ability to store sensitive information relating to different ongoing cases, those cases would never be solved and criminals would not be brought to justice.

The risk of data loss on local servers is always there. Fortunately, that is not the case with files stored on the cloud. Since the information is shared between multiple servers across a network instead of being locally hosted, there is pretty much no chance of total data loss at any given time.
3. It Facilitates Out of Office Police Work
Software and data stored in the cloud can be accessed anywhere there is an internet connection. Many police investigations require police officers to leave the office and go out into the field. However, in the past, accessing much of the software and data needed to perform an investigation required physically being in the police station.
Thankfully, due to cloud computing, this is no longer the case. Any software, file or database that is stored in the cloud can be accessed by anyone with network clearance from anywhere at the world at any time. This can allow police officers to access or submit data in the process of performing an investigation in the field. This can allow cases to be solved more quickly and police officers to have access to the information they need immediately.
